Première concert of the Rotary Bigband at the World Convention in Hamburg

Sunday, June 2, 2019, 8 PM
Stage Club, Hamburg

The renowned jazz trumpeter (Club des Belugas) and long-time leader of the SAP-Bigband Thomas Siffling (RC Mannheim-Brücke) has been won as artistic director for the Rotary Bigband.

He is joined by several other outstanding Rotarian jazz professionals, such as Oliver Strauch (RC Saarbrücken), who is Professor for jazz drums at the Saarland University for Music and Fiete Felsch (RC Ahrensburg), since 24 years lead alto saxophonist of the NDR-Bigband and Professor for saxophone and improvisation at the Hamburg University for Music & Theatre. With former Rotaract Meike Krautscheid on double bass we can also welcome a young graduate of the ‚Jazzhochschule Köln‘ in the ranks of the Rotary Bigband.

Classics by Count Basie, Duke Ellington, Cole Porter, Dizzie Gillespie and Sammy Nestico, among others, await you.

And last but not least: The Jazz-Fellowship is looking forward to host members of other fellowships, who would like to have a gorgeous happening among friends, to have a wonderful Fellowship evening and who would like to support the idea of Fellowships – friendship among Rotariens beyond club bounders! This would make this fellowship evening perfect with the start of the Rotary Jazz Bigband.
